SOUTH COAST ZONING PLAN PASSED!
The public-private initiative to develop a physical zoning plan that will guide the growth and development of Kenya's South Coast has finally been passed into law. This has been a multi-year, voluntary initiative, drawing on the time and skills of a variety of people from across Kenya and, unexpectedly, the Netherlands.

We have still to receive the final version of the plan, but relatively final versions can be found below.

Thanks to everyone for their time, enthusiasm and persistence. We now need to ensure that the good ideas are actually implemented...

PLAN TO BE SUBMITTED FOR PASSAGE INTO LAW IN 2-3 MONTHS
On June 22nd, 2013, a group of Diani-Ukunda residents and the Department of Physical Planning (DPP) spent over 4 hours going through the details of the Diani-Ukunda zoning plan. They undertook a technical review of all key zones and related regulations, discussed a range of changes and highlighted key gaps.

The DPP team has committed to conclude the plan in the next 2-3 months, to have it tabled for passage into law by the Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Housing and Urban Development.

DRAFT PLAN FOR REVIEW
A draft zoning plan for the Diani-Ukunda area has been developed by the Department of Physical Planning of the Ministry of Lands. Feedback on this plan must be sent in by August 25th, 2012.

Please click here to review a draft of the full zoning plan document. Share your comments, ideas, or objections below or email them to adamaliconsulting@gmail.com.

We are nearing the end point of this project. Your feedback is critical to ensuring that we have a well thought out plan in place to govern the future development of the South Coast.
