Conduct zoning regulation implementation trainings The last two tasks have taken longer than envisaged. However, a draft plan is now in place, which will be forwarded for passage into law once stakeholder feedback has been incorporated.	Q3&4 2011

This site provides basic information on a public-private initiative to develop a zoning plan for Kenya's South Coast. The idea behind this initiative is to ensure that the future development of the area is thoughtful and planned.

This will ensure that future growth supports the tourism industry in the area and builds on Diani's wonderful tourism assets. As opposed to erodes them. It will also help to ensure that as the area grows, it does so in a way such that it remains a pleasing part of Kenya to live in for all of its residents, whether they are from Diani or Ukunda or surrounding rural agricultural areas.

If unplanned, future growth risks being anarchic and destructive to the long-term value of the area. This will affect the tourism industry and the area's residents alike. It is this potential future which this initiative seeks to avoid.
